Bridge Over Troubled Water    Simon and Garfunkel      사이먼 엔 가펑클(Simon and Garfunkel)은 폴 사이먼과 아트 가펑클이 구성한 미국의 2인조 음악 그룹이다. 폴 사이먼과 아트 가펑클은 어린 시절 친구 간이었으며, 1960년대에 큰 명성을 얻었다. 대표 곡으로는 〈The Sound of Silence〉,〈Mrs. Robinson〉, <Bridge over Troubled Water〉등이며, 이 곡들은 모두 폴 사이먼에 의해 작곡된 것이다. 사이먼 앤드 가펑클이 1981년 진행했던 뉴욕 시 센트럴 파크에서의 무료 공연은, 약 50만 명의 관객을 동원하며 역사상 가장 큰 공연으로 기록되어 있다.  아래는 위키 백과에서 인용한 것으로, 이 노래에 대한 이야기를 잘 설명해 주고 있다.    "Bridge over Troubled Water" is the title song of Simon and Garfunkel final album together, Bridge over Troubled Water, released January 1970. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on 1970. 2. 28 and stayed at the top of the chart for six weeks. It was replaced at the number-one spot by The Beatles 'Let It be'. This song's recording process exposed many of the underlying tensions that eventually led to the breakup of the group after the album's completion. Most notably, Paul Simon has repeatedly expressed regret that he allowed Art Garfunkel to sing this song as a solo, as it focused attention on Garfunkel and relegated Simon to a backing position. Art Garfunkel initially did not want to sing lead vocal, feeling it was not right for him. "He felt I should have done it," Paul Simon revealed to Rolling Stone in 1972. Garfunkel said that the moment when he performed it in Madison Square Garden in 1972 was "almost biblical". In recent performances on the "Old Friends" tour, Simon and Garfunkel have taken turns singing alternate verses of the vocal.As the song ends, drums and piano build in a crescendo to an extraordinary climax.
